Wpadłem w depresję zawodową, gdyż po 50+ latach pracy w informatyce, odkryciu wielu bugów i instalacji różnych dziwnych urządzeń, teraz nagle taki blamaż. A może moje bajty inteligencji są już zużyte i nieco starawe? Sięgnąłem więc po pomoc do HP Community. I okazało się, że w tym samym dniu jakaś Mona ma podobny kłopot z HP DeskJet 3762, a oprócz HP Smart używała też HP Print Scan Doctor. Już po 10 minutach znalazł się przyjaciel Mans, który podkreślając, że nie jest HP employee podał Monie link do ściągnięcia bezpośredniego oprogramowania akurat tego modelu drukarki i następnie aż dziewięć punktów, które powinny być wykonane. Przykładowo: „press the Start Black Copy button two times, and then press the Cancel button three Times” (sic!). Hm, postanowiłem poszukać takiego oprogramowania dla swojej drukarki. Niestety, pomimo usilnych poszukiwań zawsze odsyłano mnie do HP Smart.

W międzyczasie spróbowałem zainstalować drukarkę w systemie MacBooka oraz Windows 10 w Lenovo. Udało się to zrobić szybko i bez problemu. Dla tych systemów drukarka była Online, co już zaczęło być mocno denerwujące. I co ciekawe, z komputera Dell można było korzystać z tej drukarki i skanera bez pośrednictwa HP Smart – wtedy drukarka była dostępna.

Spojrzałem na paragon zakupu – było jeszcze 7 dni do zakończenia gwarancji. Jednak w pomocy technicznej HP po wpisaniu numeru seryjnego stwierdzono, że gwarancja minęła 20 dni temu, ale można było to przedyskutować. Wysłałem zgłoszenie z kopią paragonu. W następnym dniu dostałem potwierdzenie przyjęcia mojej daty zakupu z notatką, że do systemu zostanie to wprowadzone w ciągu 7 dni!

W tej odpowiedzi był też numer telefonu do pomocy technicznej. Zadzwoniłem i zgłosił się żywy człowiek, normalnie inteligentny i mówiący po polsku. Zrozumiawszy o co mi chodzi, szybko przejął mój komputer (za moją zgodą) i wykonał kilka testów i się zdziwił, dlaczego jest taki problem. Po wspólnej dyskusji zgodziliśmy się, że HP Smart jeszcze nie został zaktualizowany dla Windows 11.

Dziękuję za cierpliwość doczytania tego tekstu do tego miejsca. Starałem się streszczać. Jestem pewny, że każdy z was jest w stanie sam zadać HP kilka istotnych pytań. Na przykład takich, dlaczego dalej każdy kolejny model drukarki ma inny system kontroli przyciskami na swojej konsoli (o On/Off nie wspomnę)? Dlaczego w załączanej papierowej instrukcji (w 18 językach) jest rysunek, jak wkładać wtyczkę do prądu, ale użytkownika odsyła się do strony 123.hp.com w celu jej instalacji? Dlaczego każdy kolejny model drukarki HP potrzebuje innego sterownika ładowanego do systemu – przecież są to od lat standardowe operacje drukowania i skanowania. A odmienności funkcjonalne powinny być obsługiwane przez sterownik w drukarce.

I już na koniec. Spróbowałem podłączyć drukarkę bezpośrednio przez USB, na zasadzie plug and play. Udało się, ale bez dostępu do funkcji skanowania. Znaleziony w sieci podręcznik do tego modelu liczy sobie 130 stron, co oznacza, że dążenie projektantów do dostarczenia różnych możliwości użytkowania tej prostej drukarki tak skomplikowało realizację zwykłej potrzeby wydrukowania kilku stron, że użytkownik ma tylko kłopot. Zresztą przy tak wielu opcjach i mnogości modeli również HP Smart nie jest taki błyskotliwy, chociaż jego program przy ładowaniu melduje 120 MB. Widać projektanci sami się pogubili w tak wielu funkcjonalnościach i modelach drukarek.

Tutaj opisałem problemy z instalacją drukarki wiodącej firmy HP, ale obawiam się, że modele innych marek są równie trudne w instalacji. A miało być tak prosto: plug and play… Firmę HP proszę, aby potraktowała ten tekst jako obszerną odpowiedź na ich pytanie o opinię użytkownika.

*Kiedyś, już dawno temu, podczas prezentacji po angielsku, obecna tamże tłumaczka na polski używała pojęcia printerka, bo chyba jeszcze nie znała pojęcia drukarka.
