Urządzenia wyposażono w procesory taktowane z częstotliwością 5,2 GHz.

]]> Nowe CPU wyprodukowano w technologii 45 nm. Według producenta system może wykonać ponad 50 mld operacji na sekundę, jego wydajność jest większa o 60 proc. niż IBM z10 (przy porównywalnym zużyciu energii). W serwerze zEnterprise można umieścić do 96 procesorów z196. Maksymalna pojemność RAM wynosi 3 TB.

Urządzenia wyposażono w oprogramowanie Unified Resource Manager, które m.in. umożliwia integrację zasobów w ramach jednego wirtualnego systemu (w klastrze zEnterprise – zEnsemble – można zarządzać ponad 100 tys. wirtualnych serwerów). Unified Resource Manager kontroluje ponadto aplikacje działające w ramach całego systemu zEnterprise, pozwala także przenieść uszkodzone oprogramowanie z serwera x86 na inne urządzenie tego typu.

Dla zEnterprise opracowano nowe oprogramowanie Tivoli do centralnej kontroli dostępu do aplikacji, usług biznesowych, infrastruktury i zasobów danych. Kolejną nowością jest rozwiązanie IBM Rational, która zwiększa wydajność zEnterprise udostępniając wolne moce dla najważniejszych aplikacji.

Systemy zEnterprise są wdrażane z dedykowanym oprogramowaniem i macierzami. Ceny serwerów zaczynają się od 250 tys. dol. netto. Producent zastrzega, że ceny zależą od specyfiki konkretnego projektu i są ustalane indywidualnie. Gwarancja standardowa trwa 1 rok. Okres może być dłuższy w zależności od kontraktu z klientem.
