Model chmury obliczeniowej spowodował, że dystrybutorzy znaleźli się w trudnej sytuacji. Po pierwsze bardzo skrócił dystans pomiędzy producentami a użytkownikami końcowymi. Po drugie na żadnym etapie procesu sprzedaży nie wymaga dysponowania wielkimi magazynami ani kunsztem logistycznym, który dystrybutorzy opanowali w stopniu perfekcyjnym. A jednak broadlinerzy i VAD-owie nie zamierzają rezygnować z najszybciej obecnie rozwijającego się segmentu rynku IT. Co więcej, chcą na fali cloud computingu rozwinąć swoje kompetencje i nie ograniczać się do zwykłej odsprzedaży produktów chmurowych.
