Producentowi zarzuca się nadużywanie dominującej pozycji na rynku serwerów.

]]> Według komunikatu Komisji, śledztwa antytrustowe są prowadzone w sprawach o domniemane złamanie zasad obowiązujących w Unii Europejskiej – w tym wypadku chodzi o nadużycie dominującej pozycji na rynku. Pierwsza sprawa dotyczy zarzutu, iż IBM uzależnia udostępnienie materiałów dla serwerów centralnych z wykorzystaniem w serwerach swojego systemu. O takie praktyki oskarżyła IBM amerykańska firma T3 i francuski Turbo Hercules. Drugie śledztwo dotyczy 'dyskryminacyjnego postępowania’ IBM wobec konkurencji. Koncern miał ograniczać firmom, oferującym usługi konserwacji serwerów centralnych, dostęp do części albo opóźniać ich dostawy. Komisja wyjaśnia tę drugą sprawę z własnej inicjatwy.
IBM uznał śledztwa za bezzasadne. 'Oskarżenia Turbo Herculesa i T3 przeciwko IBM są inspirowane przez część największych rywali IBM pod przewodnictwem Microsoftu,(…) pragnących narzucić ograniczenia na serwery centralne IBM bez konieczności znacznych inwestycji’ – głosi oświadczenie spółki.
Wartość rynku serwerów centralnych, używanych przez korporacje i duże instytucje, szacuje się na 8,5 mld euro, z tego 3 mld przypada na kraje Unii Europejskiej.
