Nowy flagowy smartfon wejdzie na rynek w dwóch wersjach. Obie wyposażono w ekran Quad HD i Androida 5.0.

]]> Smartfony mają ekran Quad HD Super AMOLED o przekątnej 5,1 cala (2560 x 1440 piksele, gęstość 577 ppi). Jego jasność sięga 600 cd/m kw. S6 Edge ma obudowę z metalu i szkła Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Wyświetlacz został zakrzywiony na krawędziach. Smartfon jest dostępny w różnych wersjach kolorystycznych, w tym białej, czarno-szafirowej, złoto-platynowej, niebieskiej i szmaragdowej.  

W S6 i S6 Edge zastosowano po raz pierwszy 14-nanometrowy procesor mobilny z 64-bitową platformą (Quad 2,1 GHz + procesor aplikacyjny Quad 1,5 GHz Octacore), pamięci LPDDR4 (3 GB) oraz pamięć flash UFS 2.0. Nowością jest także kodek sprzętowy 1440P/VP9, który umożliwia odbiór transmisji strumieniowej wideo w wysokiej rozdzielczości przy mniejszym zużyciu energii. 

Obie wersje wyposażono w aparaty fotograficzne z obiektywem o jasności f1,9 oraz matryce o rozdzielczości 5 Mpix z przodu i 16 Mpix z tyłu. Aparaty mają takie opcje jak automatyczna regulacja dynamicznego zakresu w czasie rzeczywistym (HDR), inteligentna stabilizacja obrazu (OIS) i balans bieli z sensorem podczerwieni. Są dostępne w telefonie z pomocą jednego przycisku.

Urządzenia można naładować bezprzewodowo ładowarką kompatybilną ze standardami WPC i PMA, a także z pomocą kabla. Dziesięciominutowe ładowanie wystarcza na 4 godz. pracy na baterii.

S6 i S6 Edge będą dostępne na całym świecie od 10 kwietnia 2015 r. z pamięciami o pojemności 32 GB, 64 GB i 128 GB.
