]]> Pierwotnym założeniem przy tworzeniu komputerów Raspberry Pi było promowanie nauki informatyki w szkołach krajów rozwijających się. Dlatego sprzęt ten oferował akceptowalną wydajność w bardzo niskiej cenie. Jednak w najnowszym modelu Raspberry Pi 3 wydajność wzrosła znacząco i specjaliści NEC-a uznali, że urządzenie pasuje do monitorów wielkoformatowych tej marki.

Jednopłytkowy komputer SBC wyposażono w czterordzeniowy procesor 1.2GHz, dzięki czemu nie jest on już tylko prostym komputerem do nauki programowania. W dodatku poza standardowym modelem Raspberry Pi 3, NEC oferować będzie także model o podniesionej wydajności, dostosowany do konkretnych wymagań branży wyświetlania obrazu. Komputery Raspberry Pi 3 jako część platformy NEC OMI (Open Modular Intelligence) będą możliwe do integracji z nowymi, wielkoformatowymi monitorami NEC z serii P oraz V.

Współpraca technologiczna, pierwsza tego typu pomiędzy producentem monitorów a twórcami Raspberry Pi, ma zwiększyć potencjał NEC-a na rynkach wertykalnych (m.in. w handlu, lotnictwie, transporcie, edukacji i w sektorze enterprise). 

"Sprzedaliśmy dotychczas 10 milionów sztuk Raspberry Pi i ten komercyjny sukces doprowadził nas do trzeciej generacji bardziej dojrzałej i wydajnej technologii, która może być używana z monitorami NEC” – powiedział Eben Upton, CEO w Raspberry Pi Trading.

Nowa seria monitorów wielkoformatowych NEC z możliwością integracji z Raspberry Pi ma być dostępna od stycznia 2017 r.
