przez wiele różnych firm, m.in. Avaya, Cisco, IBM, HP, Red
Hat czy SUSE. Dzięki niemu chmura obliczeniowa w centrach danych jest bardziej
wydajna. OpenStack konkuruje m.in. z prywatną chmurą od VMware. Wybór Mirantis
jest więc niekorzystny dla tego producenta, podobnie jak dla Red Hata, dla
którego Volkswagen jest bardzo ważnym klientem.  

Umowa zawarta między Mirantis a VW dotyczy wszystkich marek
z portfolio koncernu, a więc m.in. także Audi, Bentleya i Porsche. W każdym z
tych przypadków inżynierowie motoryzacyjnego giganta projektują coraz to nowe
technologie IT wdrażane później do poszczególnych modeli samochodów. Wiele z
nich współpracuje z aplikacjami, które zbierają i przetwarzają rosnącą ilość
danych. I właśnie rozwiązania Mirantis mają pomóc w efektywnej obsłudze data
center, do których te dane będą spływać. Chodzi o centra danych w Stanach
Zjednoczonych, Europie i Azji.  

W ostatnich latach więcej znaczących firm zdecydowało się na
OpenStack zamiast produktów VMware. Należy do nich m.in. PayPal.
