Marcin Cichy od ponad 10 lat zajmuje się sprawami
z zakresu polityki regulacyjnej na rynku telekomunikacyjnym. Poprzednio był związany z UPC (2013 – 2016),
odpowiadając za relacje z administracją
państwową. W marcu 2016 r. przeszedł do biura analiz Ministerstwa
Cyfryzacji. W latach 2005 – 2013 zajmował się analityką rynku
telekomunikacyjnego w Urzędzie Regulacji Telekomunikacji i Poczty, a
następnie w UKE.

Jak przekonywała w Sejmie minister cyfryzacji Anna Streżyńska, powołanie Marcina Cichego daje gwarancję realizacji strategicznych celów rządu. Wymieniła wśród nich zrównoważony rozwój rynku telekomunikacyjnego, przyspieszenie inwestycji w infrastrukturę, realizację założeń europejskiej agendy cyfrowej.

Marcin Cichy przejmie stery UKE po Magdalenie Gaj, która w lipcu br. zrezygnowała na rok przed upływem kadencji (była prezesem od 2012 r.), wyjaśniając, że zrealizowała już postawione cele.
