]]> Połączenie to efekt transakcji zakupu AVG przez Avasta za 1,3 mld dol. Wstępną umowę podpisano w lipcu br. W ramach jednej organizacji będą oferowane zarówno produkty pod marką AVG, jak i Avast. Partnerzy i klienci oddzielnych dotychczas firm nadal mają mieć zapewnione wsparcie. Dzięki przejęciu zasobów i bazy resellerów AVG, Avast może umocnić się na rynku MŚP oraz dotrzeć z ofertą do większych organizacji. Liczy także na ekspansję na rynkach wschodzących oraz w segmencie IoT. Avast przejmuje także należącą do AVG spółkę Location Labs, oferującą system do ochrony urządzeń mobilnych, z którym firma zamierza umocnić się na rynku telekomów.

Szefem nowego Avasta będzie dotychczasowy CEO, Vince Steckler. Firma ma obecnie ponad 400 mln użytkowników, w tym 160 mln mobilnych. Jej klienci według CEO stanowią ponad 40 proc. wszystkich konsumentów z PC na świecie, nie licząc Chin. Obroty Avasta w 2016 r. powinny przekroczyć 700 mln dol.
