]]> Philips zarzucił producentom urządzeń noszonych (wearables), że naruszyli jego patenty albo "w inny sposób sprzeniewierzyli jego własność intelektualną" – poinformował Reuters. Holenderski koncern zgłosił się w tej sprawie do amerykańskich władz. Domaga się zakazu importu urządzeń wskazanych producentów albo wprowadzenia ceł. Na liście zarzutów Philipsa znaleźli się: Fitbit, Garmin, Maintek, Iventec, a także Ingram Micro. Amerykański regulator rynku zapowiedział wszczęcie dochodzenia. Ma ustalić, czy doszło do naruszenia patentów.

Jak dotąd oskarżenia Philipsa skomentował Fitbit. Zapewnił, że roszczenia są nieuzasadnione i wynikają z niepowodzeń holenderskiego koncernu na rynku wearables. Fitbit, który jest numerem 5 na światowym rynku (według IDC) został kupiony przez Google'a za 2,1 mld dol.

Rynek urządzeń noszonych rośnie w szybkim tempie. Sprzedaż w ciągu roku zwiększyła się o blisko 95 proc.- według danych IDC za III kw. 2019 r. Zwłaszcza inteligentne słuchawki mocno zyskały na popularności (+242 proc.).
