]]> Większą skuteczność w działaniu biznesu urządzeń mobilnych ma zapewnić Lenovo nowe kierownictwo tego działu. Odchodzi z firmy Rick Osterloh, prezes Motorola Mobility, który kierował integracją Motoroli z Lenovo. Zastąpią go dwaj prezesi – Xudong Chen, który skupi się na rynku chińskim, oraz Aymar de Lencquesaing, odpowiedzialny za resztę świata. 

Lenovo przejęło Motorolę od Google w 2014 – tym samym roku, w którym firma kupiła dział serwerów x86 od IBM. Obie transakcje mają zmienić Lenovo z wielkiego dostawcy PC w ważnego gracza także na innych rynkach. W branży smartfonów Lenovo – konkurując z Apple, Samsungiem, Huawei i szybko rosnącym Xiaomi – jest obecnie według Gartnera czwartym co do wielkości producentem na świecie. 

W ostatnim czasie pozycja Lenovo na chińskim rynku smartfonów osłabła. Według IDC w 2013 r. trzy pierwsze miejsca w Chinach zajmowały firmy Samsung, Lenovo i Coolpad. Przez następne dwa lata czołówka zmieniła się jednak i tworzą ją obecnie Xiaomi, Huawei i Apple.

Także w ramach reorganizacji firmy biznes PC stanie się działem PC & Smart Device Business Group, z poszerzoną ofertą obejmującą: komputery PC, urządzenia hybrydowe, tablety i phablety, produkty dla graczy i  rozwiązania smart home, działające z systemami Windows, Chrome OS i Android. W sytuacji, gdy branża PC się konsoliduje, poszerzony dział ma pomóc firmie zwiększać udziały w rynku i sprzedaż urządzeń typu smart. Nową PC & Smart Device Business Group poprowadzi Gianfranco Lanci

Zmiana Enterprise Business Group na Data Center Group ma sprawić, że Lenovo będzie skutecznie odpowiadać na potrzeby klientów nie tylko w obszarze tradycyjnego sprzętu serwerowego i pamięci masowych, ale także na rosnącym rynku infrastruktury hiperskalowalnej oraz hiperkonwergentnej. Z myślą o tej ostatniej Lenovo niedawno stworzyło partnerstwo z Juniper Networks. Prezesem Lenovo Data Center Group będzie Gerry Smith.

Opisywane zmiany mają obowiązywać od 1 kwietnia.
