]]> W bieżącym roku branża ma powrócić do wzrostów, jednak bardzo anemicznych, ocenianych przez analityków na 0,6 proc. Globalna wartość sprzedaży ma wynieść 3,54 biliona USD. Winnymi zeszłorocznego spadku są – zdaniem Gartnera – silny dolar oraz niestabilność polityczna i gospodarcza takich krajów, jak Rosja i Brazylia. Sprzedaż na tych wielkich rynkach nie była taka, jakiej oczekiwano.

Spadki odnotowano niemal we wszystkich sektorach – oprogramowaniu, urządzeniach i usługach. Jedynym, który w minionym roku odnotował wzrost (o 1,8 proc.), są technologie centrum danych. Taki trend w 2016 r. będzie kontynuowany – sprzedaż systemów data center osiągnie wartość 75 mld USD (o 3 proc. więcej niż w 2015 r.)

Współgra to ze zmianami w zachowaniu klientów – rośnie dla nich znaczenie cloud computingu. Zdaniem Gartnera korporacje zamiast kupować licencje na oprogramowanie za 1 mln USD wolą wykupić usługi SaaS za 100 tys. USD rocznie. Chmura w coraz większym stopniu zaczyna zastępować też fizyczne serwery.
