]]> ConteXtream tworzy oprogramowanie do sieci definiowanych programowo (SDN) i funkcji wirtualizacji sieci (NFV). Nie ujawniono ceny zakupu. Rynek nowych rozwiązań sieciowych, które pozwalają na łatwą rozbudowę i elastyczność oferowanych usług, ocenia się jako rozwojowy segment, ponieważ firmy i operatorzy będą potrzebować skalowalnych rozwiązań, głównie ze względu na rosnącą liczbę urządzeń mobilnych i aplikacji.

Oprogramowanie ConteXtream oparto na projekcie Open Source – OpenDayLight. HP planuje bardziej zaangażować się w to przedsięwzięcie. Liczy na to, że dzięki temu szybciej powstanie kontroler SDN, kompatybilny z rozwiązaniami dużych dostawców. 

HP należy do największych firm zaangażowanych w rozwiązania chmurowe oparte na architekturze OpenStack. Według własnych informacji tworzy jedną z największych chmur publicznych zbudowanych na tej architekturze. Dysponując narzędziami funkcji wirtualizacji sieci, robi kolejny krok w tym kierunku. HP przypuszcza, że żaden pojedynczy dostawca nie będzie w stanie dostarczyć kompleksowej oferty NFV, dlatego koncern stawia na otwarty ekosystem, z architekturą OpenNFV i projektami typu OpenDayLight.
