180,9 mln notebooków. W Chongqing mają swoje montownie najwięksi producenci komputerów ODM – Quanta, Compal, Wistron, Inventec, Pegatron i Foxconn. Są także zakłady blisko 600 dostawców podzespołów, a dojdzie jeszcze ponad 200.

Aby przyciągnąć pracowników, firmy ODM podniosły płace, jednakże to zwiększa koszty produkcji. Alternatywą jest przeniesienie robotników z innych regionów Chin.

Produkcją zajmują się tajwańskie koncerny ODM (original design manufacturer), takie jak największy światowy dostawca – Quanta Computer (ponad 50 proc. produkcji w Chongqing, do końca br. ma pochodzić stąd 70 proc.) czy Compal, który w II kw. br. wytwarzał w tym chińskim ośrodku 500 tys. laptopów miesięcznie. Niektóre firmy ODM aby utrzymać ciągłość dostaw mają przenieść część produkcji do wschodnich Chin.
