]]> Według jednego ze źródeł fundusze są raczej zainteresowane zakupem części aktywów HPE o wartości między 6 a 8 mld dol., obejmujących oprogramowanie. Spekuluje się, że może chodzić o rozwiązania Big Data, takie jak Autonomy i Vertica. Wcześniej natomiast pojawiły się informacje, że takie fundusze jak KKR, Apollo Global Management i Carlyle Group 'chodzą’ wokół HPE, badając możliwość przejęcia koncernu za ponad 40 mld dol. W ocenie obserwatorów HPE ze względu na mocną pozycję na rynku infrastruktury i zmiany usprawniające organizację jest atrakcyjną inwestycją dla funduszy. Z drugiej strony wykup miałby dać HPE większą swobodę działania niż spółkom publicznym (podobnie Dell uzasadniał przejęcie kontroli nad spółką przez szefa firmy z pomocą funduszy oraz wycofanie jej z giełdy).

]]> Dostawca rozwiązań bezpieczeństwa, firma Symantec, ogłosiła właśnie, że w rezultacie sprzedaży działu Veritas otrzyma w od prywatnego funduszu inwestycyjnego Carlyle Group 7,4 mld USD, z czego 6,6 mld w gotówce. Ponieważ Symantec i Carlyle uzgodniły także podwyższenie zagranicznych aktywów Veritasu z 200 mln do 400 mln USD, to zapłata netto wyniesie 7 mld USD, zamiast uzgodnionych w sierpniu 2015 r. 8 mld USD. 

Nowe uzgodnienia są wynikiem „wynikłych niejasności” dotyczących transakcji pomiędzy kontrahentami. Po korekcie obie strony uznały umowę za satysfakcjonującą i wyznaczyły termin jej sfinalizowania na 29 stycznia.

Symantec kupił Veritasa w 2005 r. za 13,5 mld USD. Obecną sprzedaż chce wykorzystać do zwiększenia swojego zaangażowania na rynku cyberbezpieczeństwa. „W wyniku umowy firma będziemy mogli bardziej skupić się na naszej ofercie security i umacniać swoją pozycję lidera na tym rynku” – stwierdził Michael A. Brown, prezes firmy Symantec.

Symantec uaktualnił także informacje o swoich przewidywanych wynikach finansowych. Firma poinformowała swoich inwestorów, że dochody w trzecim kwartale 2016 r. mają wynieść 920 mln USD (wcześniejsze szacunki ogłoszone w listopadzie 2015 r. mówiły o 890 mln USD).
