Lista sytuacji, w których przedsiębiorcy albo osoby trafią na listy biur informacji gospodarczej jest dłuższa – obejmuje np. kary administracyjne.

Z kolei samorządy mogą, ale nie muszą powiadamiać biur informacji gospodarczej o niezapłaconych daninach (np. opłaty gruntowe). Dla osób fizycznych minimalna kwota zaległości kwalifikująca do wpisania do BIG-u ma wynosić 200 zł, a dla przedsiębiorców 500 zł. Rząd chce, by nowe prawo weszło w życie na początku 2016 r.
