Prognozy dla rynku usług chmurowych są dzisiaj bardzo obiecujące. Wszelkie raporty i analizy pokazują, że ten segment biznesu dynamicznie się rozwija i nadal będzie mocno rósł. Dla przykładu, sam rynek usług infrastruktury chmurowej (IaaS, PaaS i hostowanie chmury prywatnej), według Synergy Research Group, rośnie co roku w tempie 34 proc. Z kolei, zdaniem analityków IDC, wydatki ogółem na chmurę obliczeniową wzrosną w tym roku o 22 proc.

Do wzrostu zainteresowania rozwiązaniami chmurowymi przyczyniła się w dużym stopniu pandemia, która spowodowała potrzebę szybkiego wdrożenia rozwiązań do pracy zdalnej i komunikacji między członkami rozproszonych zespołów. Z drugiej strony, popyt napędza przybierająca coraz bardziej na sile transformacja cyfrowa, która obejmuje sukcesywnie kolejne procesy i obszary funkcjonowania firm oraz całej gospodarki.

Z danych Eurostatu wynika, że z rozwiązań chmurowych w Polsce korzystała w ubiegłym roku co czwarta firma. To niemal dwa razy więcej niż dwa lata wcześniej, kiedy było to tylko 11 proc. Natomiast badanie zrealizowane na zlecenie OVHcloud i Intela pokazało, że podczas pandemii chmurą zainteresowało się 41 proc. firm, a 71 proc. z tych przedsiębiorstw, które już korzystają z chmury, planuje kolejne wdrożenia.

Od serwera do aplikacji  

Jako usługa może być dzisiaj oferowanych wiele rzeczy. Generalnie jednak dzieli się usługi chmurowe na trzy główne kategorie: infrastruktura (IaaS), platforma (PaaS) i aplikacje (SaaS). W przypadku IaaS, mamy do czynienia z oferowaniem dostępu do potrzebnych zasobów obliczeniowych, pamięci masowej i rozwiązań sieciowych. W tym modelu użytkownik płaci tylko za faktycznie wykorzystane zasoby. To pozwala uniknąć kosztów związanych z kupowaniem i utrzymywaniem przez klienta własnych serwerów oraz całej infrastruktury centrum danych. IaaS zapewnia elastyczne skalowanie wykorzystywanych zasobów w zależności od potrzeb – zarówno w górę, jak i w dół.

Z kolei PaaS to dostarczanie pełnej platformy systemowej, na której mogą działać i być rozwijane aplikacje. To kompletne środowisko deweloperskie i wdrożeniowe, które umożliwia dostarczanie użytkownikom dowolnego rozwiązania. W ramach PaaS odbiorca otrzymuje dostęp do elementów infrastruktury i oprogramowania pośredniczącego, narzędzi deweloperskich, systemów zarządzania bazami danych itp. Dzięki nim programiści i administratorzy mogą obsługiwać cały cykl życia aplikacji internetowych i mobilnych – tworzyć, testować, wdrażać, integrować, aktualizować wykorzystywane aplikacje i zarządzać ich funkcjonowaniem.

Natomiast SaaS pozwala na wykupienie dostępu do konkretnych aplikacji, na przykład biurowych, biznesowych, komunikacyjnych i korzystania z potrzebnych funkcji oprogramowania, na przykład rozliczania podatków, porozumiewania się z członkami zespołu pracowniczego, wymiany dokumentów itp. Rolą przedsiębiorcy będącego odbiorcą tego rodzaju usług jest zapewnienie pracownikom technicznych i organizacyjnych możliwości korzystania z aplikacji. Utrzymaniem zaś i rozwojem samej aplikacji zajmuje się dostawca, który jest odpowiedzialny w całości za aktualizację udostępnianego oprogramowania oraz jego zabezpieczenie.

Zaskakujące dla niektórych wiadomości przyniósł opracowany przez firmę F5 raport „State of Application Strategy 2022”. Zdaniem jego autorów nie wszyscy są zadowoleni z chmury – na świecie gwałtownie przyspieszyło zjawisko przenoszenia aplikacji z powrotem do lokalnej infrastruktury. Z przeprowadzonej ankiety wynika, że już to zrobiło lub planuje przeprowadzenie tej operacji w ciągu najbliższych 12 miesięcy ponad dwie trzecie firm (rok temu było to tylko 27 proc.). Zdaniem autorów raportu ta gwałtowna zmiana nastawienia jest spowodowana trudnością w zarządzaniu wieloma chmurami, a do tego wadami chmury publicznej, które niwelują korzyści związane z wydajnością. Twórcy raportu twierdzą, że architektury hybrydowe, w tym lokalne centra danych i oferty XaaS (wszystko jako usługa) nie znikną, natomiast aplikacje będą coraz bardziej skonteneryzowane i mobilne. To oznacza, że złożoność nadal będzie powszechnym zjawiskiem (z raportu wynika, że 70 proc. firm zarządza aplikacjami o pięciu różnych architekturach).
