Część tegorocznego GTDC EMEA Summit poświęcono kwestiom odpowiedzialności firm IT za ochronę środowiska. Dotyczyła tego prezentacja Marka Tesselaara, starszego dyrektora ESG w Price Waterhouse Coopers. Odbyła się też debata dotycząca kwestii różnorodności, w której wzięła udział Patrycja Gawarecka, dyrektor sprzedaży i marketingu AB, która podkreślała, że w polskiej spółce zawsze patrzono na umiejętności i zaangażowanie, nie zaś na kwestie płciowe.

Warto dodać, że w trakcie rozmów z uczestnikami wydarzenia regularnie przewijała się kwestia niepewności co do dalszego rozwoju sytuacji na rynku IT. Ma to związek z Covid-19, stanem łańcucha dostaw, rosnącą inflacją i wojną na Ukrainie. Wyrażano przy tym nadzieję, że przyszłorocznemu spotkaniu nic nie zagrozi i odbędzie się w równie dobrej atmosferze, jak tegoroczne.

  1. Niektórzy wieszczyli, że model chmurowy wyprze dystrybutorów z rynku, a co najmniej mocno ich osłabi. Tymczasem z danych wynika, że ostatnie lata wzmocniły ich rynkową pozycję. Jak to możliwe?  Ludzie, którzy tak twierdzili, nie rozumieją, na czym polegają mechanizmy docierania do klientów, wchodzenia na rynek i prosperowania na nim. Te mechanizmy nadal obowiązują, pomimo tego, że rynek się zmienia i pojawiają się na nim nowe modele biznesowe. Jednak generalnych zasad działania biznesu nie zmieniło ani pojawienie się AWS, ani Google Cloud. Co więcej, obie te firmy też potrzebują dystrybutorów. Żywym tego dowodem jest przyjazd na GTDC EMEA osoby odpowiedzialnej w Google’u za współpracę z dystrybutorami. Z kolei jego odpowiednik w Amazon Web Services w ostatniej chwili odwołał swój przyjazd z powodu zakażenia Covidem. Trzeba wyraźnie powiedzieć, że zawsze na rynku będą obok siebie funkcjonować oba modele sprzedaży: pośredni i bezpośredni. Pamiętam, jak Dell działał bez pośredników i dla niektórych miał to być dowód, że to jest docelowy model biznesowy w branży IT. Tymczasem wszyscy widzimy, jak to teraz wygląda. Oczywiście od tamtego czasu sprawy się skomplikowały i teraz trzeba uczyć się tego, jak działają marketplace’y i hiperskalerzy, jaką w związku z modelem chmurowym powinno się stosować politykę cenową, jak finansować taki biznes etc. To jednak nic innego, jak naturalny cykl rozwoju rynku, przy czym niezmienna jest rola dystrybutorów, których, jak już mówiłem, potrzebują nawet hiperskalerzy.
  2. Czy to oznacza, że dalszy szybki rozwój cloudu nie zagraża dystrybutorom, nawet gdy będzie generował znacznie większy kawałek „tortu przychodowego” niż obecnie?  Wszyscy teraz mówią o modelu as a service i słusznie, bo zmienia on rynek i dynamicznie się rozwija. Wciąż jednak nie jest to duży kawałek całego „tortu”. Druga sprawa to wpływ, jaki model ten wywiera na integratorów, którzy w związanej z tym ewolucji działania potrzebują ogromnego wsparcia – edukacji, finansowania etc. I tu pojawia się pytanie: kto im tego wsparcia może realnie udzielić? Do pewnego stopnia producenci, ale najbliższą relację integratorzy mają z dystrybutorami. A ci się do zmian rynkowych z powodzeniem dostosowują. Jeszcze kilka lat temu 80 procent ich przychodów pochodziło z „przesuwania pudełek”. Od tamtych czasów rozbudowali swoje możliwości zarabiania na usługach i ten odsetek zmienia się na korzyść usług. Tak czy inaczej dystrybutorzy pozostaną na swoim ważnym, kluczowym wręcz miejscu rynkowym. Będą nadal wspierać w ewolucji biznesu nie tylko swoich partnerów, ale także pomagać producentom w dotarciu do rynku z kolejnymi nowymi rozwiązaniami. Jakieś 50 do 60 procent całego biznesu IT idzie przez dystrybucję. I tak to trwa plus minus od dwóch dekad. Myślę, że w przyszłości nadal tak będzie.
  3. Jaki jest zatem główny przekaz tegorocznego GTDC EMEA? Rozumiem, że zdecydowanie optymistyczny.  Z mojej perspektywy to, co widzieliśmy w minionych kilku latach i to, czego się spodziewamy, to rosnąca złożoność kanału sprzedaży IT. Rola, którą tradycyjnie odgrywają na nim dystrybutorzy, jest absolutnie kluczowa, co wyraźnie uwidoczniła pandemia. W tym okresie wykonali oni wspaniałą pracę, a jednocześnie, podążając za zmianami na rynku, dokonali dużych inwestycji w takie obszary, jak chmurowe marketplace’y czy Infrastructure as a Service, utrzymując przy tym znakomity poziom klasycznych usług logistycznych czy finansowych. Także nasz główny przekaz jest bardzo prosty: dystrybutorzy są bardziej istotni dla rynku niż kiedykolwiek wcześniej, czego z każdym kolejnym rokiem dowodzą swoimi działaniami i wynikami.
