Za 1,7 mld euro Apple zbuduje centra danych w Europie
Dwa nowe obiekty powstaną w Irlandii i Danii. Inwestycje są związane z sukcesami Apple’a na rynku europejskim – twierdzi Tim Cook, CEO firmy.
Nowe ośrodki będą obsługiwać usługi online Apple’a, jak sklep iTunes, App Store, mapy, Siri. Oba mają po 166 tys. m kw. Powinny rozpocząć działalność w 2017 r. Będą w 100 proc. korzystać z energii odnawialnej – twierdzi koncern.
W ub.r. w Europie Apple miało dobry IV kw. 2014 r. Sprzedaż wzrosła o 20 proc. w porównaniu z IV kw. 2013 r., osiągając wartość 17,2 mld dol.
Apple informuje, że jego działalność wspiera w Europie 672 tys. miejsc pracy, w tym 530 tys. związanych bezpośrednio z rozwojem aplikacji na iOS. Od 2008 r. programiści zarobili na nich w Europie ponad 6,6 mld euro – podaje firma.
Bezpośrednio Apple zatrudnia w 19 krajach Europy 18,3 tys. osób, w ostatnich 12 miesiącach przybyło ponad 2 tys. miejsc pracy.
