Z Google do Pentagonu
Eric Schmidt, były CEO Google'a (2001-2011) i członek zarządu Alphabet (obecnie), zmienia sektor z prywatnego na publiczny. Podjął właśnie decyzję o nawiązaniu współpracy z Pentagonem, gdzie jego zadaniem będzie zwiększanie świadomości odnośnie do nowych, coraz bardziej skomplikowanych technologii.
Amerykański Sekretarz Obrony,
Ashton Carton powołał Schmidta na przewodniczącego nowego ciała doradczego w
Pentagonie o nazwie Defense Innovation Advisory Board. Były szef
Google ma sprawić, żeby personel Pentagonu 'nadążał’ za wszystkimi
nowinkami technologicznymi, które powstają w Dolinie Krzemowej.
Zespół Erica Schmidta, składający
się łącznie z dwunastu osób, nie otrzyma jednak dostępu do tajnych informacji
dotyczących kwestii wojskowych. Jego rola polegać będzie na wprowadzaniu
personelu wojskowego w skomplikowany świat nowych technologii, które nie tylko
mogą usprawnić pracę Pentagonu, ale też w krótkim czasie mogą stać się
niezbędne do jego prawidłowego funkcjonowania.
I jeszcze ciekawostka: niedawno Departament
Obrony USA ogłosił konkurs o nazwie 'Hack The Pentagon’, w którym
oferuje nagrody pieniężne każdemu hakerowi, który znajdzie luki w
zabezpieczeniach komputerowych wojskowej sieci.
