Oszuści podszywający się pod pracowników wyciągnęli od firmy sieciowej 46,7 mln dol.
Według informacji spółki doszło do nieuprawnionego transferu pieniędzy z oddziału w Hong Kongu. Odbiorcą miał być rzekomo jeden kontrahentów – przestępcy podszyli się również pod dział finansowy tej firmy. Środki trafiły jednak na konta oszustów. Ich sukces nie jest pełny. Jak podał Ubiquiti Networks odzyskano 8,1 mln dol. Przekręt wykryto w czerwcu br.
Ataki zwane 'oszustwem CEO’ są według FBI coraz częstsze. Są na nie narażone firmy, które mają zagranicznych dostawców. Rozpoczynają się od przejęcia kontroli nad kontem pocztowym dyrektorów lub pracowników. Według danych FBI ze stycznia br. w ciągu 14 poprzedzających miesięcy przestępcy wyłudzili w ten sposób 215 mln dol.
