Trend Micro: LinkedIn wykorzystuje w reklamach dane użytkowników bez ich zgody
Portal społecznościowy LinkedIn zamieszcza w reklamach dane osobowe użytkowników, nie pytając ich o pozwolenie - twierdzi Trend Micro. Holenderski rząd sprawdza, czy nowe praktyki nie naruszają prawa.
W reklamach serwisu pojawia się nazwisko, twarz i dane konkretnej osoby. Mogą one mieć formę tekstu „Wyobraź sobie siebie w nowej pracy w (nazwa sponsora)” ze zdjęciem użytkownika LinkedIn podpisanym „najnowszy pracownik (nazwa sponsora)”.
Według Trend Micro LinkedIn dodał nowe funkcje i uruchomił je u wszystkich 120 mln użytkowników bez informacji o zmianie (nawet jeśli w profilu była zaznaczona opcja powiadamiania mailem o aktualizacjach). Sprawę bada holenderski rząd. Brytyjczycy potwierdzili, że przechowywanie lub przetwarzanie takich danych na terenie Zjednoczonego Królestwa byłoby naruszeniem ustawy o ochronie danych osobowych.
Zdaniem Trend Micro, aby zapobiec wykorzystywaniu wizerunku do promocji, użytkownicy powinni zmienić ustawienia domyślne portalu, zaznaczając, że nie chcą korzystać z nowych funkcji i odznaczając odpowiednie opcje w Privacy Controls. Warto też przejrzeć ustawienia konta.
