Przełącznik Smart TL-SG2008 wyposażono w 8 gigabitowych portów RJ45 i rozbudowane funkcje zarządzania ruchem w warstwie drugiej.
Urządzenie cechują rozbudowane funkcje QoS, usprawniające ruch w sieci. Administrator może ustalić priorytety transmisji danych m.in. w oparciu o priorytet portów, protokoły 802.1P oraz DSCP. Funkcje zarządzania ruchem w warstwie drugiej obejmują obsługę VLAN 802.1Q, izolację portów, mirroring portów, STP/RSTP/MSTP, agregację portów oraz opcję kontroli przepływu 802.3x. Wśród innych opcji jest wykrywanie połączeń loop back, diagnostyka kabli i IGMP snooping. W tym ostatnim przypadku administrator może m.in. ustawić przesyłanie transmisji strumieniowych multicast tylko do określonych odbiorców. Ponadto funkcje IGMP throttling oraz IGMP filtering ograniczają dostęp do transmisji multicast dla niepowołanych użytkowników. Według producenta rozwiązania oszczędzania energii pomagają obniżyć pobór mocy nawet o 65 proc.
