Ponad 20 tys. aplikacji w Windows Store
Internetowy sklep Microsoftu z programami do Windowsów szybko się rozrasta. Przybywa w nim nawet kilkaset pozycji dziennie.
Na dzień 22 listopada w Windows Store było do pobrania 20,6 tys. aplikacji. Większość (87 proc.) jest darmowa. Oferta obejmuje programy przygotowane dla Windows 8 i Windows RT. Sklep online z aplikacjami to jedna z nowości związanych z wprowadzeniem na rynek nowych systemów operacyjnych. Został uruchomiony wraz z udostępnieniem rozwojowej wersji Windows 8 Consumer Preview w lutym 2012 r. Według zapowiedzi Microsoftu sprzed premiery „ósemki”, w lutym 2013 r. oferta miałaby obejmować 100 tys. aplikacji. Dla porównania Apple AppStore, z którego można pobrać aplikacje na iPada, iPhone’a i iPoda, w połowie 2012 r. miał na liście 650 tys. produktów (e-sklep otwarto w 2008 r., działa też AppStore z aplikacjami na Mac’a).
