Panasonic zapowiedział wprowadzenie do sprzedaży tabletu Toughpad klasy rugged z systemem Android 3.2.
Urządzenie wyposażono w 10,1-calowy wyświetlacz z powłoką antyrefleksyjną, dwurdzeniowy procesor (1,2 GHz), moduł Wi-Fi oraz GPS. W ofercie pojawi się także wersja z modemem 3G. Według producenta tablet wytrzymuje upadek z wysokości do 120 cm, jest odporny na pył i zalanie, zachowuje sprawność w temperaturach od -10 do 50 st. C.
Toughpad ma m.in. opcje szyfrowania danych i uwierzytelniania. Na wyświetlaczu można składać odręczne podpisy piórem elektronicznym, a czujniki badające m.in. nacisk i prędkość pisania zwiększają wiarygodność autoryzacji.
Tablet będzie dostępny w Polsce na wiosnę 2012 r. Przewidywane ceny detaliczne netto to 4,5 tys. zł w wersji standardowej i 5,5 tys. dla modelu z modemem 3G.
