IBM wprowadził na rynek nowy model dysku SCSI Utrastar o pojemności 18 GB i 36 GB i szybkości obrotowej talerzy 15000 rpm
IBM wprowadził na rynek nowy model dysku SCSI Utrastar o pojemności 18 GB i 36 GB i szybkości obrotowej talerzy 15000 rpm. Transfer danych osiąga szybkość 647 MB/s. Bufor danych ma 4 MB. Średni czasu dostępu dla modelu o pojemności 18 GB wynosi 3,6 ms i 4,1 ms dla modelu 36 GB. Odporność na wstrząsy wynosi odpowiednio 250 G w stanie spoczynku i 60 G w czasie pracy dla dysku 18 GB oraz 80 G w stanie spoczynku i 15 G przy pracy dla dysku 36 GB.
