Microsoft utworzył nowy dział
Koncern bierze na cel nowy rynek. Utworzył dział, zajmujący się sztuczną inteligencją.
Nowa jednostka nazywa się Microsoft AI and Research Group. Wcześniej koncern połączył siły z Amazonem, Google'm, Facebookiem i IBM, tworząc organizację non profit, która ma poszerzyć publiczną wiedzę na temat rozwiązań AI. Biorąc pod uwagę prognozy analityków, jest to obiecujący sektor. Według IDC rynek sztucznej inteligencji (AI) i uczenia maszynowego będzie wart 70 mld dol. w 2020 r. wobec 8,2 mld dol. w 2013 r.
"Pracujemy nad sztuczną inteligencją od początku Microsoft Research. jak na razie tylko dotknęliśmy tego, co jest możliwe" – stwierdził szef grupy, Harry Shum.
Wcześniej CEO firmy, Satya Nadella, poinformował, że przejęcie Linkedina ma poprawić wyniki firmy w takich obszarach jak analityka, uczenie maszynowe oraz AI.
Microsoft przejął także spółki specjalizujące się w sztucznej inteligencji, aby przyspieszyć ekspansję na tym rynku. W br. nabył m.in. SwiftKey praz Genee, dostawcę usług bazujących na AI.
Nie wszystkie próby wdrożeń rozwiązań AI przez Microsoft były udane. W br. głośna była sprawa chatbota Tay, który zamieszczał rasistowskie i seksistowskie komentarze na Twitterze.
