Microsoft ma własny tablet
Producent zaprezentował swój tablet o nazwie Surface. Urządzenie wyposażono w 10,6-calowy ekran full HD. Będzie dostępne z procesorami Intela oraz ARM.
Surface ma 3-lub 5-milimetrową pokrywę ekranu z klawiaturą. Po jej rozłożeniu tabletu można używać jak laptopa. Z tyłu zamontowano wysuwaną podpórkę, na której można oprzeć urządzenie w pozycji pionowej.
Tablet przygotowano w dwóch wersjach – z procesorem Intela i ARM. W pierwszej konfiguracji pojemność pamięci wynosi 64 albo 128 GB. Zainstalowane złącza to mini-DisplayPort, USB 3.0, slot kart mikro-SDHC. Akumulator ma 42 Wh pojemności. Zainstalowany system to Windows 8 Pro. Grubość obudowy wynosi 13,5 mm, a waga urządzenia: 903 g.
Wersja dla układów ARM będzie oferowana z dostosowanym do tej architektury systemem Windows RT. Pojemność pamięci wynosi 32 albo 64 GB, a akumulatora – 31,5 Wh. Dostępne złącza to USB 2.0, slot nośników mikro-SD. Tablet jest cieńszy od wersji z Intelem (9,3 mm). Waży 676 g.
Cena urządzenia nie została jeszcze ustalona. Według Microsoftu ma być konkurencyjna w stosunku do porównywalnych tabletów z układami ARM i ultrabooków.
