W kraju powstanie wielkie repozytorium danych obserwacyjnych Ziemi gromadzonych przez satelity. To efekt przetargu wygranego przez polskie spółki w Europejskiej Agencji Kosmicznej.
W skład zwycięskiego konsorcjum wchodzą Creotech Instruments, CloudFerro oraz niemiecka firma konsultingowa Brockmann Consult. Wartość projektu „Eo Innovation Platform Testbed Poland” to ponad 8 mln zł.
W ramach inwestycji powstanie testowa infrastruktura przechowująca dane pochodzące z obserwacji kosmicznych. Projekt umożliwi firmom, instytucjom państwowym i naukowcom pozyskiwanie i przetwarzanie danych satelitarnych.
Jak twierdzi na money.pl wiceprezes CloudFerro infrastruktura serwerowa do tego celu będzie największego tego typu w Polsce. Bazom danych będą towarzyszyły fizyczne i wirtualne i serwery, na których użytkownicy komercyjni i naukowi będą mogli uruchamiać swoje aplikacje. Na razie nie wiadomo, gdzie powstanie cała infrastruktura. W grę wchodzą cztery miasta: Warszawa, Kraków, Szczecin i Lublin.
Platforma zostanie udostępniona za pół roku. Będzie odpłatna, ale przedstawiciele nauki zostaną potraktowani preferencyjnie.
