Koniec wojny handlowej – Unia zlikwiduje cła na monitory, drukarki i dekodery
UE musi znieść cła na monitory, drukarki wielofunkcyjne i dekodery tv importowane z USA, Japonii i Tajwanu. Według WTO mogą spaść ceny sprzętu.
Likwidację ceł nakazała Brukseli Światowa Organizacja Handlu (WTO). Decyzja wejdzie w życie prawdopodobnie za kilka miesięcy, kończąc spór, który trwa od kilkunastu lat. W latach 90. ponad 70 krajów zawarło porozumienie ITA (Information Technology Agreement), znosząc cła na sprzęt elektroniczny. Unia Europejska dalej jednak pobierała opłaty od płaskoekranowych monitorów do komputerów, drukujących urządzeń wielofunkcyjnych i dekoderów telewizyjnych z możliwością podłączenia do Internetu. Skargę na decyzję Brukseli złożyły w Światowej Organizacji Handlu (WTO) USA i kraje azjatyckie, o likwidację ceł w WTO walczyły także HP i Canon. W sierpniu ub. roku Światowa Organizacja Handlu nakazała Unii zniesienie opłat. Bruksela musi zlikwidować cła w połowie 2011 r.
Cła na sporne produkty wynoszą 6-14 proc. Zdaniem WTO dzięki ich zniesieniu mogą spaść ceny sprzętu, a importerzy zaoszczędzą ponad 600 mln dol. rocznie.
