HPE inwestuje w obiecujący startup
Firma Hedvig pozyskała 21,5 mln USD od funduszy Hewlett Packard Pathfinder, należącego od HPE, oraz EDBI z Singapuru.
Startup jest autorem Hedvig Distributed Platform – rozwiązania klasy Software Defined Storage (SDS), czyli pamięci masowych definiowanych przez oprogramowanie. Kilka funduszy venture capitals (Atlantic Brigde, True Ventures, Redpoint Ventures) wcześniej wyłożyło na rozwój platformy 30,5 mln USD. Wraz z nowym zastrzykiem finansowym Hedvig uzbierał do tej pory 52 mln USD. Gartner w 2016 roku umieścił startup na liście „Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies 2016”.
Hedvig zamierza przeznaczyć środki na dalszy rozwój oferty, a także wejście na rynek azjatycki oraz australijski. Startup posiada już kilku partnerów w Europie, przede wszystkim w Niemczech i Szwecji.
Inwestycja HPE pomoże lepiej dostosować Hedvig Distributed Platform do architektury hybrydowej. Rolę doradcy technicznego Hedviga ma pełnić Milan Shetti, CTO Data Center Infrastructure Group w HPE.
Założycielem startupu jest Avinash Lakshman, twórca nierelacyjnej bazy danych Cassandra dla Facebooka, a także współautor Amazon Dynamo NoSQL. Analitycy Gartnera w 2016 roku umieścił Hedvig na liście „Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies 2016”.
