Google kupił Motorolę
Ogłoszone w sierpniu ub. roku przejęcie Motoroli Mobility przez giganta z Mountain View zostało sfinalizowane. Wartość transakcji to 12,5 mld dol.
Przejęcie stało się możliwe dzięki zgodzie Komisji Europejskiej,amerykańskiego Departamentu Sprawiedliwości oraz regulatora rynku z Chin. Motorola Mobility produkuje smartfony i tablety. Nadal będzie działać jako odrębna firma. Jej dyrektorem generalnym został Dennis Woodside, dotychczasowy szef Google’a w obu Amerykach, który nadzorował proces integracji.
Dzięki przejęciu Motoroli dostawca Androida staje się dużym graczem na rynku sprzętu. Ponadto otrzymuje do dyspozycji portfolio patentów, należących do najcenniejszych w branży telekomunikacyjnej. – To doskonały moment, aby zapewnić sobie udział w rynku urządzeń mobilnych – stwierdził prezes Google’a, Larry Page.
