Rząd zapowiada duże inwestycje w Internet
Darmowy Internet będzie w każdej szkole - zgodnie z uchwałą Rady Ministrów. Inwestycje zostaną sfinansowane z budżetu i programu Polska Cyfrowa.
Do 2020 r. wszystkie szkoły uzyskają bezpłatny dostęp do szybkiego Internetu o przepustowości 100 Mb/s – zgodnie z uchwałą Rady Ministrów. W ramach programu Ogólnopolskiej Sieci Edukacyjnej (OSE) "100 Mega na 100-lecie".do sieci zostanie podłączonych 19,5 tys. placówek. Realizacja ruszy w 2018 r. Na początek obejmie według planu 1,5 tys. lokalizacji. Potem ma nastąpić przyspieszenie. W 2019 r. darmowy Internet powinien dotrzeć do 12,7 tys. jednostek edukacyjnych, a w 2020 r. osiągnąć finalne 19,5 tys.
Koszty budowy sieci oraz jej funkcjonowania (opłaty za usługi internetowe) zostaną pokryte z budżetu oraz z programu operacyjnego Polska Cyfrowa – postanowił rząd. Nie podaje wartości inwestycji. Celem jest wyrównanie szans edukacyjnych, co oznacza podciągnięcie szybkiego Internetu przede wszystkim do mniejszych ośrodków, gdzie zasięg czy przepustowość sieci komercyjnych nierzadko nie spełnia wymagań określonych w uchwale rządu.
