Action sprzedał serwery do Genewy
W ciągu ośmiu miesięcy dystrybutor dostarczył 1132 serwery Actina Solar Europejskiej Organizacji Badań Jądrowych CERN w Genewie. Action liczy na dalszą współpracę. Złożył już oferty w kolejnych przetargach.
Wartość transakcji wyniosła 13,8 mln zł. Serwery Actina Solar zostały wykorzystane w infrastrukturze IT Wielkiego Zderzacza Hadronów (LHC) – największego na świecie akceleratora cząstek. Służą do zapisywania i analizy danych. Łączna pojemność dysków urządzeń sięga 9 mln GB. Jak poinformował Edward Wojtysiak, wiceprezes Actionu, spółka liczy na nowe zamówienia z CERN. Złożyła już oferty w kolejnych przetargach. Ocenia się, że akcelerator będzie pracował co najmniej przez 10 lat, a w tym czasie infrastruktura IT może być wymieniana kilka razy. Obecnie w projekcie jest wykorzystywanych ok. 7 tys. serwerów. Całkowity koszt budowy Wielkiego Zderzacza Hadronów (LHC) wynosi 4,6 mld franków szwajcarskich.
Urządzenia dostarczone CERN to większość serwerów, jakie Action sprzedał w 2010 r. W sumie wielkość tegorocznej sprzedaży wyniosła 1696 szt. W całym 2009 r. klienci kupili 1670 maszyn Actina Solar.
