Acer tworzy VR joint venture
Razem ze szwedzką firmą Starbreeze tajwański koncern powołał spółkę, która zajmie się rozwojem zestawów do wirtualnej rzeczywistości.
Spółka o nazwie Acer Starbreeze Corporation zajmie się projektowaniem, sprzedażą i marketingiem gogli do wirtualnej rzeczywistości. Do dyspozycji ma kapitał wielkości 25 mln dol., wniesiony po połowie przez obie firmy założycielskie. 'Chcemy odgrywać znaczącą rolę na rynku wirtualnej rzeczywistości’ – zapowiada CEO Acera, Jason Chen. Na początku roku pojawiły się informacje, że firma przygotowuje własny zestaw do VR. Jason Chen zaprzeczył jednak, że sam Acer zaoferuje takie produkty.
Spółka joint venture przygotowuje zestaw o nazwie StarVR, który ma być przeznaczony dla użytkowników profesjonalnych i miejsc rozrywki, jak kina, salony gier, a także firmy sprzedające samochody i oferujące trening pilotów. Seryjna produkcja ma ruszyć w 2017 r.
