Acer na CES: najcieńszy ultrabook
Aspire S5 to 13-3-calowy ultrabook o grubości 15 mm, który waży niecałe 1,35 kg. Urządzenie trafi na rynek w II kw. br.
Laptop zostanie wyposażony w procesor Intel Core i dysk SSD. Wśród interfejsów jest Thunderbolt, a także USB 3.0 i HDMI. Porty są schowane za panelem znajdującym się pod zawiasem. Pokrywę i podpórkę pod dłonie wykonano stopu magnezu i aluminium. S5 ma system dźwiękowy DolbyHome Theater v4. Funkcja Acer Green Instant On umożliwia wznowienie pracy w ciągu 1,5 sek. Według producenta w stanie uśpienia akumulator wystarcza na kilka tygodni. Bateria powinna utrzymać 80 proc. początkowej pojemności po 1000 cyklów ładowania.
Aspire S5 jest póki co najcieńszym ultrabookiem, jaki ma pojawić się na rynku (15 mm po złożeniu). Smuklejsze będą natomiast notebooki Samsunga z serii 9 (13-calowy ma 12,9 mm grubości), również zaprezentowane na CES.
S5 trafi do sprzedaży w II kw. 2012 r. Cena nie została jeszcze ustalona.
