Acer: 50 proc. zysku w nowe biznesy
Koncern szuka nowego kierunku rozwoju.
Zainwestowaliśmy ponad 50 proc. zysku w nowe biznesy – poinformował szef Acera, Jason Chen. Firma szuka nowego kierunek rozwoju. Według CEO Acer powinien zbudować bardziej zdywersyfikowany biznes. Obecnie 94 proc. obrotów (dane za I kw. br.) firma generuje na sprzęcie, w tym notebooki mają 65 proc., a desktopy 15 proc. udziału. Czyli "nowe biznesy" mają kilka proc. Jak poinformował Acer, wygenerowały one stratę operacyjną. Wśród kierunków ekspansji Chen wymienił rzeczywistość wirtualną oraz mieszaną (mixed reality – MR), łączącą realne i wirtualne elementy. Koncern tworzy ekosystem VR i MR z własnym oprogramowaniem i sprzętem. W ramach nowych biznesów firma weszła we współpracę z Imax i zamierza uczestniczyć w realizacji ponad 10 filmów wykorzystujących rzeczywistość wirtualną. W zakresie innego partnerstwa producent inwestuje w gaming VR.
CEO tłumaczy inwestycjami skromny wynik netto z minionego kwartału, w którym Acer zarobił na czysto trochę ponad 2 mln dol. przy przychodach 1,86 mld dol. W 2016 r. Acer miał stratę netto, głównie z powodu odpisów.
