Według producenta laptopy Toshiba Portégé i Tecra zostały przetestowane w systemie HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) przez TÜV Rheinland. HALT to metoda weryfikacji jakości produktów, polegająca na wielokrotnym poddawaniu ich tym samym testom przeprowadzonym w ekstremalnych warunkach. Sprawdzane urządzenia są m.in. zamrażane w temperaturze -25 st. C, przetrzymywane w pomieszczeniu, gdzie temperatura dochodzi do +70 st. C. Ponadto, sprzęt jest ściskany, zrzucany z dużej wysokości i poddawany intensywnym wibracjom.
