W nowych skanerach wprowadzono kilkadziesiąt innowacji technicznych, z czego 32 zostały zgłoszone do opatentowania. Producent zapewnił użytkownikom m.in. mniejsze zużycie energii i najnowocześniejszą automatyczną kontrolę separacji skanowanych dokumentów.

W ramach rodziny fi-8000 oferowane są dwie podgrupy urządzeń. Modele fi-8150, fi-8170 i fi-8190 to klasyczne szczelinowe skanery dokumentowe z podajnikiem ADF na 100 arkuszy (ostatnie dwie cyfry w nazwie modelu oznaczają liczbę skanowanych stron A4 na minutę przy rozdzielczości 200 DPI). Natomiast w modelach fi-8250, fi-8270 i fi-8290 zamontowano skaner płaski, który umożliwia skanowanie grubych dokumentów i obiektów trójwymiarowych.

Technologia godna zaufania

Od wielu lat wyróżnikiem skanerów Fujitsu jest opatentowany mechanizm automatycznej kontroli separacji, który zapewnia idealne podawanie skanowanych dokumentów. W ten sposób poszczególne modele potrafią wyczuwać ich wagę, a następnie automatycznie regulować i dostosowywać do niej moment obrotowy, co eliminuje błędy podawania i przestoje w skanowaniu.

Zagwarantowana jest także stabilność podawania dokumentów o różnych formatach, co przekłada się na oszczędność czasu użytkowników – nie są zmuszeni do sortowania ich według typu. Wbudowane wałki poliuretanowe są odporne na wchłanianie oleju z papieru samokopiującego (NCR), co stanowi znaczący wyróżnik wobec stosowanych zazwyczaj wałków EPDM, które mogą pęcznieć (przekłada się to na tempo podawania nośników).

Dokumenty są też chronione przed uszkodzeniem dzięki systemowi monitorowania obrazu, który w czasie rzeczywistym identyfikuje przekrzywione dokumenty i zatrzymuje proces skanowania. W nowych skanerach (z wyjątkiem modeli fi-8150, fi-8250) zaimplementowano również inteligentną dźwiękową ochronę papieru (Intelligent Sonic Paper Protection, ISOP). Wbudowany mikrofon nasłuchuje nietypowych dźwięków (takich jak marszczenie papieru) i w razie ich wykrycia natychmiast zatrzymuje skaner, przez co chroni dokumenty przed uszkodzeniem. Zainstalowano w nich także trzy czujniki, które wykrywają krawędzie papieru i dostosowują obszar skanowania, aby dopasować go do dokumentu, nawet jeśli został umieszczony krzywo.

Ciekawostką w urządzeniach z rodziny fi-8000 jest też możliwość bardzo łatwego skanowania paszportów zgodnych z normą ISO/IEC 7810 ID-3 (czyli klasycznych dokumentów podróżnych stosowanych na całym świecie). Maksymalna grubość po otwarciu paszportu do zeskanowania może wynosić 7 mm. W modelach fi-8150/fi-8250 wymagane jest zastosowanie arkusza nośnego (specjalnej koperty, w której umieszczany jest dokument do zeskanowania), zaś w pozostałych zaimplementowano opatentowany mechanizm podawania bez arkusza nośnego. Dołączone do skanerów oprogramowanie umożliwia rozpoznawanie danych w standardzie MRZ, umieszczonych w dwóch dolnych wierszach na stronie ze zdjęciem w każdym paszporcie.

W skanerach Fujitsu fi-8000 zadebiutował mechanizm Clear Image Capture, który zapewnia dokładne renderowanie obrazu i zapobiega przesunięciom kolorów. Przekłada się to na najlepsze wskaźniki dokładności OCR oraz gwarantuje jakość obrazu, która przewyższa możliwości standardowych skanerów z lampami CIS lub CCD.
