Cisco Embedded Wireless Controller to rozwiązanie dla przedsiębiorstw, które potrzebują bezpiecznej, łatwej w zarządzaniu, niezawodnej i wydajnej sieci bezprzewodowej pracującej w najnowszym standardzie 802.11ax. Wbudowany kontroler sieci Wi-Fi umożliwia zarządzanie 100 punktami dostępowymi i siecią składającą się z 2 tys. mobilnych urządzeń końcowych. Poprzez nowoczesny interfejs zarządzający możliwe jest błyskawiczne skonfigurowanie i uruchomienie bezpiecznej oraz wydajnej sieci zgodnie z najlepszymi praktykami Cisco. Administrator sieci może w łatwy sposób monitorować usługi QoS, interferencje, bezpieczeństwo, obce punkty dostępowe, aplikacje oraz różnorodne podłączające się do sieci urządzenia bezprzewodowe. Wbudowany w rozwiązanie mechanizm wyboru zapasowego kontrolera w sieci zapewnia wysoką dostępność usług i stabilność pracy.

Funkcjonalność Embedded Wireless Controller dostępna jest na nowej generacji punktów dostępowych z serii Catalyst C9105I, 9115I/E, 9120I/E i 9130I/E. Modele te mogą być wyposażone w anteny wbudowane lub zewnętrzne w przypadku instalacji na wysokim suficie lub w celu doświetlenia sygnałem wybranych obszarów. Jedna instancja Cisco Embedded Wire-less Controller jest w stanie objąć swym zasięgiem nawet duży magazyn dystrybucyjny lub duży oddział przedsiębiorstwa. Natomiast w przypadku, gdy potrzeba obsługi większej ilości punktów dostępowych w jednej lokalizacji (powyżej 100), można ją rozbudować o dedykowany sprzętowy lub wirtualny kontroler, który to umożliwi.

Na jakie funkcjonalności najczęściej klienci zwracają uwagę? Po pierwsze zero-wait DFS oraz podwójny filtr DFS (dynamiczny wybór częstotliwości), który definiuje mechanizm wykrywający obecność innych urządzeń pracujących na tych samych kanałach radiowych. Zastosowanie dwóch układów radiowych do detekcji zdarzeń pozwala wyeliminować wyniki typu „false positive”, gdyż oba układy muszą się zgodzić, że doświadczyły trafienia DFS, zanim zareaguje punkt dostępowy. Po drugie punkty dostępowe Cisco umożliwiają uruchomienie funkcji aWIPS (adaptive Wireless Intrusion Prevention System). Jest to system wykrywania i ograniczania zagrożeń przy użyciu technik opartych na sygnaturach, analizy ruchu i informacji o urządzeniu/topologii. Z kolei dzięki AAA Override on WLANs (SSIDs) administrator może skonfigurować sieć bezprzewodową z uwierzytelnieniem za pomocą RADIUS i zastosować VLAN/QOS/ACL do poszczególnych klientów na podstawie atrybutów AAA z serwera. Na uwagę zasługuje też pełna obsługa najnowszego protokołu bezpieczeństwa WPA3 (WiFi Protected Access 3).

Kolejna istotna funkcja to AVC (widoczność i kontrola aplikacji), umożliwiająca administratorowi ograniczanie, odrzucanie i oznaczanie ruchu w oparciu o aplikację kliencką. Przy czym punkty dostępowe 11ax mogą pełnić rolę kontrolera podstawowego oraz zapasowego. Należy też podkreślić możliwość identyfikacji urządzeń Apple iOS z możliwością priorytetyzacji aplikacji biznesowych, jak też integrację z Cisco Umbrella w celu blokowania złośliwych adresów URL, złośliwego oprogramowania i phishingu. Całość uzupełniają programowalne interfejsy z NETCONF/Yang do automatyzacji, konfiguracji i monitorowania, a ponadto bezprzerwowe aktualizacje oprogramowania (SMU – Software Maintenance Upgrade). Rozwiązanie jest bezlicencyjne, jeśli wykorzystujemy do zarządzania wbudowany interfejs WebUI lub aplikację mobilną. Aplikacja mobilna Cisco Catalyst Wireless oferuje doskonałe możliwości zarządzania dzięki łatwo dostępnemu, prostemu interfejsowi. Intuicyjny interfejs pozwala na inwentaryzację, konfigurację, wdrażanie i monitorowanie. W przypadku wykorzystania systemu Cisco DNA-Center lub dedykowanego kontrolera wymagana jest licencja Cisco DNA.
