Dlatego wszystkie dane są w ramach chmury prywatnej kontrolowane przez administratora IT zarządzającego serwerem NAS. Organizacje potrzebują lokalnego serwera, który umożliwia im dostęp do plików z dowolnego miejsca oraz synchronizację między serwerem NAS a wieloma klientami. Dzięki narzędziu Synology Drive otrzymują jeden portal do dostępu do plików, synchronizacji i współpracy nad treściami. 

Potrzebują też bezpiecznej poczty. Dlatego serwer Synology MailPlus zapewnia im wiele funkcji chroniących pracowników przed złośliwymi wiadomościami e-mail i atakami. Kliencki interfejs MailPlus łączy w sobie zalety najpopularniejszych programów pocztowych, dlatego użytkownicy szybko uczą się jego obsługi.

Z kolei usługa Synology Chat integruje się z Windows Active Directory i LDAP, co umożliwia konwersację zaraz po dodaniu nowego konta. Chat oferuje też duże możliwości udostępniania plików. Ponieważ usługa jest hostowana lokalnie, przesyłanie plików jest szybsze niż w publicznych chmurach i tylko jej użytkownik jest w posiadaniu danych.

Wykorzystując aplikacje Synology Office, można łatwo tworzyć dokumenty, arkusze kalkulacyjne i prezentacje, które są synchronizowane z serwerem NAS w czasie rzeczywistym. Wielu pracowników może efektywnie pracować jednocześnie nad tym samym dokumentem i wstawiać do niego komentarze.

Case study: wiele problemów do rozwiązania

Przyjrzyjmy się, jak w praktyce rozwiązania Synology odpowiadają na dzisiejsze potrzeby dotyczące współpracy i komunikacji. Za przykład doskonale posłuży wdrożenie w jednej z niemieckich szkół. Pokazuje ono, jak dzięki narzędziom Synology można – w ramach sieci dla nauczycieli – stworzyć środowisko do współpracy i komunikacji, które będzie nie tylko w pełni efektywne oraz funkcjonalne, ale także ułatwi zachowanie zgodności z regulacjami.

Dla zatrudniającej blisko 100 nauczycieli szkoły ogólnokształcącej Hardt w Mönchengladbach znalezienie sposobu na szybkie i proste komunikowanie się kadry rozmieszczonej w siedmiu pokojach nauczycielskich i w dwóch budynkach stało się absolutną koniecznością. Nauczyciele potrzebowali funkcji kalendarza do śledzenia godzin egzaminów i dat konferencji. Bardzo brakowało też funkcji udostępniania plików, dostępnej ze smartfonów i tabletów. Z kolei do obsługi poczty elektronicznej używany był stary serwer Mac, niewspierany już przez firmę Apple. Przy czym serwer pocztowy stanowił dla szkoły kluczowy element, ponieważ był również używany do komunikacji wewnętrznej. Szkoła potrzebowała serwera poczty, który mógłby być łatwo zarządzany przez nauczycieli. A ponieważ przez lata nagromadziło się wiele wiadomości e-mail i załączników, konieczne było wprowadzenie dużych limitów przydziału pamięci dla skrzynek pocztowych. 

Skutki wdrożenia 

Szkoła wdrożyła 6-kieszeniowy serwer DS3018xs na potrzeby blisko 120 użytkowników. Urządzenie zostało wyposażone w 2 dyski SSD o pojemności 2 TB w konfiguracji RAID 1 oraz dysk twardy o pojemności 4 TB do tworzenia kopii zapasowych. Trzy kieszenie na dyski pozostały wolne na potrzeby przyszłej rozbudowy. Do obsługi serwera poczty wybrano aplikację MailPlus, zapewniającą możliwość dostosowywania rozmiarów skrzynek pocztowych. Funkcję kalendarza cyfrowego pełni aplikacja Synology Calendar, a Synology Drive wraz z aplikacjami mobilnymi służy do udostępniania plików.

Warto dodać, że w przyszłości zostanie wdrożona aplikacja Synology Chat, aby usprawnić komunikację wewnętrzną między nauczycielami. Kompleksowe szyfrowanie zwiększa prywatność wiadomości, uniemożliwiając dostęp do rozmów nawet administratorom. Aplikacja Chat pomoże także szkole w przestrzeganiu rządowych przepisów dotyczących ochrony danych.
