Brocade ma kłopot z SAN
Firma Brocade przedstawiła wyniki za pierwszy kwartał finansowy 2017 roku, zakończony 31 stycznia.
Firma w pierwszym kwartale uzyskała przychody w wysokości 581 mln USD, co oznacza 1 proc. wzrost w ujęciu rocznym i 12 proc. spadek w porównaniu z poprzednim kwartałem. To wynik mocno poniżej oczekiwań. Analitycy z Zacks Investment Research prognozowali, że firma osiągnie obroty na poziomie 651 mln USD. Brocade odnotował w pierwszym kwartale fiskalnym 2017 roku stratę 5,7 mln USD, wobec 94 mln USD zysku rok wcześniej i 67 mln USD w kwartale poprzedzającym.
Przychody ze sprzedaży rozwiązań przeznaczonych do budowy SAN wyniosły 307 mln USD – o 12% mniej niż rok wcześniej. Niewykluczone, że oznacza to powolny odwrót klientów od rozwiązań bazujących na Fibre Channel. Warto zwrócić uwagę na fakt, iż według Dell'Oro udziały Brocade w globalnym rynku przełączników SAN oscylują wokół 70 proc.
Sprzedaż rozwiązań rozwiązań z grupy IP networking wzrosła w ujęciu rocznym o 30 proc. Dywizja Network Edge wygenerowała obrót 174 mln USD, w tym 72 mln należało do produktów Ruckus Wireless. Broadcom, nowy właściciel firmy Brocade, nie był zainteresowany grupą produktów Ruckus Wireless oraz Brocade ICX. Rozwiązania IP Networking zostały przejęte przez firmę Arris International. Wartość transakcji wyniosła 800 mln USD.
