Seagate zwalnia i podnosi prognozę
Wyniki aktualnego kwartału finansowego będą lepsze niż oczekiwano - poinformował Seagate. Jednocześnie zapowiedział zwolnienie kolejnych 6,5 tys. osób.
W trwającym obecnie IV kw. finansowym Seagate spodziewa się 2,65 mld dol. przychodów i 25 proc. marży brutto. Poprzednio oczekiwano odpowiednio 2,3 mld dol. i 23 proc. Wyższe marże są według firmy efektem oszczędności, natomiast większe obroty osiągnięto dzięki sprzedaży dysków HDD klasy enterprise. W całym kwartale firma powinna sprzedać ok. 37 mln dysków twardych o łącznej pojemności 62 eksabajty. Średnio na 1 dysk przypada 1,7 TB pojemności, a przeciętna cena sprzedaży to 67 dol. (ok. 265 zł).
Mimo poprawy prognozy, Seagate zamierza jeszcze bardziej ściąć koszty. Do końca roku finansowego zlikwiduje 6,5 tys. miejsc pracy, tj. 14 proc. w całej korporacji. Dzięki temu zaoszczędzi rocznie 164 mln dol. W końcu czerwca poinformowano, że firma skasuje 1,6 tys. stanowisk.
