AMD ma odpowiedź na ultrabooki
Producent zaprezentował nową serię układów APU, zaprojektowanych m.in. dla supercienkich laptopów, które będą kosztować 599 – 899 dol.
APU z serii A zaprezentowano na targach Computex na Tajwanie. Wyposażono je w GPU Radeon HD serii 7000, kompatybilny z DirectX 11.
Według serwisu Digitimes John Taylor, dyrektor marketingu produktów w AMD poinformował, że zalecane ceny nowych supercienkich laptopów z APU serii A to 599 – 899 dol. Tymczasem ceny ultrabooków zaczynają się od 749 dol., a niektóre modele kosztują ponad 1000 dol. Zdaniem Taylora tylko w przypadku sprzętu Apple’a i Sony klienci akceptują stawki wyższe niż 899 dol., stąd dla AMD to górny pułap cenowy.
