Acer zainwestuje w chmurę
Acer zamierza przejąć za 320 mln dol. amerykańską firmę iGware. Celem producenta jest stworzenie własnej oferty rozwiązań cloud.
IGware jest dostawcą oprogramowania i usług w chmurze, takich jak wirtualne konsole. Na bazie rozwiązań kalifornijskiej firmy tajwański koncern zamierza stworzyć Acer Cloud – usługę, z której będą korzystać użytkownicy wszystkich urządzeń producenta, m.in. komputerów i tabletów. Sprzęt dostosowany do nowej oferty pojawi się na rynku w przyszłym roku.
Po przejęciu iGware zostanie przekształcona w firmę o nazwie Acer Cloud Technology Company. Jej filie powstaną na Tajwanie i w Chinach. Wartość transakcji wyniesie 320 mln dol. plus 75 mln dol. wykupu z zysków.
Vendor postrzega rozwój technologii opartych na chmurze jako główny trend w branży. Acer Cloud w ciągu najbliższych 10 lat ma być kluczowym elementem wyróżniającym produkty tajwańskiej firmy.
