Producent zapowiedział wprowadzenie na rynek laptopa ThinkPad X130e, zaprojektowanego dla uczniów szkół podstawowych i średnich.
Urządzenie ma ekran o przekątnej 11,6 cala. Przygotowano różne konfiguracje z procesorami AMD Fusion E-300, E-450 oraz Intel Core i3 2367M ULV. Maksymalna pojemność RAM-u wynosi 8 GB, a dysku twardego – 500 GB.
Komputer został wyposażony w zabezpieczenia przed uszkodzeniami mechanicznymi, np. gumową osłonę górnej pokrywy oraz wzmacniane narożniki i zawiasy (według producenta wytrzymują 30 tys. cykli). Ekran chroni oprawa z plastiku o grubości 1,2 mm. Złącza (takie jak HDMI, VGA, audio) są umieszczone głębiej w obudowie i wzmocnione. System Active Protection chroni dysk twardy w razie upadku. Jak zapewnia producent, z opcjonalnym napędem SSD o pojemności 128 GB laptopa można uruchomić w mniej niż 20 sek. X130e waży 1,78 kg z baterią 6-ogniwową, która powinna wystarczyć na 8,5 godziny pracy.
Urządzenie będzie dostępne z systemami Windows 7 Home Premium albo Professional. W pakiecie oprogramowania jest Microsoft Office 2010 Starter.
W Polsce komputer pojawi się na rynku w I kwartale 2012 r. Ceny mają zaczynać się od 469 dol. netto (1562 zł przy kursie 3,33 za 1 dol.). Gwarancja: 1 rok.
