Dell zainwestuje miliard dolarów w nowe rozwiązania
Koncern zapowiedział budowę centrów danych, opartych na technologii chmury. Ogłoszono także partnerstwo Della i Microsoftu w zakresie zarządzania i wirtualizacji.
W ciągu najbliższych 2 lat Dell zbuduje centra danych, które mają umożliwić klientom dostęp do publicznych i prywatnych chmur oraz usług outsourcingu IT. W tym roku ma powstać 12 globalnych ośrodków, a w ciągu najbliższych 18 miesięcy – 10 kolejnych. Centra będą stanowić zaplecze usług IT, m.in. wspomagać budowę wirtualnej infrastruktury, która ma z kolei przyspieszyć przejście na technologię cloud.
Dell poinformował ponadto o partnerstwie z Microsoftem. Firmy opracowały trzyletni projekt strategiczny, który ma pomóc klientom we wdrażaniu i zarządzaniu wirtualizacją oraz prywatną chmurą. Rozwiązania do zarządzania będą opierać się na technologii Dell Virtual Integrated System (VIS), Dell Advanced Infrastructure Manager oraz Microsoft System Center. Przy wirtualizacji będzie wykorzystywany Microsoft Windows Server Hyper-V. Celem jest uproszczenie zarządzania i zmniejszenie kosztów.
