Nowe serwery RackStation wyposażono w czterordzeniowy procesor Intel Atom C2538 i sprzętowe szyfrowane AES-NI.
Nowe modele RS2416+ i RS2416RP+ to 12-kieszeniowe urządzenia sieciowej pamięci masowej. Mają po 2 GB RAM-u (maksymalnie 6 GB). Prędkość transferu danych wynosi do 450 MB/s podczas odczytu i 381 MB/s przy zapisie. Podłączając jednostkę rozszerzającą RX1214/RX1214RP pamięć można powiększyć do 24 dysków twardych (łącznie 168 TB). RS2416+/RS2416RP+ jest pierwszym modelem z serii Plus ze wsparciem systemu plików Btrfs. Dzięki temu oferuje mirroring metadanych oraz sprawdzanie sum kontrolnych.
Migawki mogą być tworzone automatycznie, nawet co pięć minut, pozwalając cofnąć się do określonego punktu w czasie i przywrócić poprzednie wersje plików i folderów. Można zachować do 256 migawek dziennie, tygodniowo lub miesięcznie, gdy rozbudowuje się pamięć.
Urządzenie oprócz czterech standardowych portów sieciowych ma redundantne zasilacze. RS2416+ i RS2416RP+ działają z systemem DiskStation Manager (DSM).
