AMD ma swojego laptopa, tańszego niż ultrabooki
Powstał prototyp supercienkiego laptopa AMD Trinity, który ma być alternatywą dla ultrabooków, tyle że dużo tańszą. Nowy rodzaj urządzeń powinien pojawić się w sprzedaży w połowie roku.
AMD zaprezentowała nowy sprzęt w wersji referencyjnej. Laptop ma po złożeniu 1,8 cm grubości (czyli podobnie jak ultrabooki, w ich przypadku dopuszczalne maksimum to 2 cm), złącza HDMI i USB 3.0. W urządzeniu zainstalowano układ APU Trinity, oparty na architekturze Bulldozer ze zintegrowanym GPU, który ma być konkurencją dla procesorów Intela nowej generacji – Ivy Bridge. Dzięki energooszczędnym układom sprzęt powinien wytrzymać na baterii nawet 12 godzin. Konkurencyjna ma być jednak przede wszystkim cena – najtańsze laptopy AMD Trinity mają kosztować 500 – 600 dol., podczas gdy za większość ultrabooków trzeba zapłacić w detalu ponad 1 tys. dol.
AMD oczekuje, że w tym roku na rynek wejdzie około 20 modeli laptopów typu Trinity (dla porównania Intel zapowiedział 75 ultrabooków).
