Motorola przejmie Psion
Motorola Solution kupi Psion. Fuzja zapewni producentowi dominację na polskim rynku komputerów handheld – informuje RRC, dystrybutor Motoroli.
Wartość transakcji to 129 mln funtów brytyjskich. Według RRC przed zakupem udział Motoroli Solution w polskim rynku komputerów handheld wynosił blisko 50 proc. Zdaniem Michała Grzybowskiego, Product Managera Motoroli Solutions w RRC, przejęcie jest dla resellerów wyraźnym sygnałem, że segment automatycznej identyfikacji danych to perspektywiczna nisza, w którą warto zainwestować.
– Motorola Solutions poczyniła bardzo poważny krok, by wzmocnić swoją pozycję na rynku AutoID – wyjaśnia Michał Grzybowski. – Niewątpliwie zakup firmy Psion wynika z wnikliwej oceny sytuacji.
Motorola Solutions powstała w ubiegłym roku wskutek podziału koncernu Motorola (drugą, powstałą po podziale spółkę – Motorola Mobility, kupił w maju br. Google za 12,5 mld dol.). Firma dostarcza rozwiązania do automatycznej identyfikacji danych (AutoID), sieci szerokopasmowych i łączności bezprzewodowej.
Psion zatrudnia 830 osób, ma klientów w 50 krajach. W 2011 r. przychody firmy wyniosły 176 mln funtów brytyjskich (273 mln dol.).
